Instructions for authors

This section aims to guide you in preparing and submitting manuscripts to our journal. It is essential to thoroughly read and understand these instructions before proceeding with the submission, as adherence to the established guidelines ensures an efficient and effective editorial process. This includes formatting requirements, manuscript structure, processing fees, and ethical criteria. We appreciate your attention to this section as it facilitates successful collaboration between authors and the editorial team.

Basic Aspects

  • Format: Word document (Windows or Mac) or compatible format, letter-size paper, single spacing, Calibri 11 pt font, pages numbered consecutively.
  • Writing: The manuscript must be well written and adhere to the grammatical rules of the original language. We recommend authors have their texts reviewed by a language specialist prior to submission.
  • Verb tense: For quantitative or mixed-method studies, the impersonal construction in Spanish (“se”) is recommended. For qualitative studies, authors may choose to use the first-person plural ("we").
  • Inclusive and non-discriminatory language: In both the text and images, authors must use language that does not discriminate against any person based on sex, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political conviction, religious belief, disability, or any other condition.
  • Author metadata: Authors must submit a separate Word file including the following information for each author: Scientific name (as used in academic publications), Institutional affiliation, ORCID (with hyperlink), and Contact email. Additionally, each author who wishes to be included in the journal must be properly registered, as this is an essential requirement for acceptance.
  • Fees: To support publication costs, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $215 USD per article applies. Please consult the Article Publication Fee section.
  • REDIIE members: To qualify for APC discounts based on membership, you must have updated your personal information in the corresponding form, keep your ORCID profile current—including your REDIIE affiliation type—and be enrolled in the REDIIE Community.
  • REDIIE Presenters: To access the APC waiver, authors must be registered as an “associate member,” have submitted the summarized article to the corresponding Book of Proceedings, and include the URL of their participation certificate from a REDIIE congress held during the current year, along with the submission. This waiver applies to only one article per congress and is exclusively available to authors officially certified as presenters at REDIIE events. If there are co-authors who do not meet this certification requirement, a publication fee of $65 USD will apply for each such co-author.
  • ORCID authentication: To confirm authorship of a submitted article for Revista Transformar, the OJS platform will send an automatic email requesting the registration or linking of the ORCID iD to the submission. This step is mandatory to validate authorship. The message is sent only once, so we recommend checking both the inbox and spam folders.
  • Response times: The review process may take between three and five months, depending on the volume of submissions and the availability of reviewers. Therefore, authors are kindly asked not to inquire via email about the status of their submissions during this period. All official communication will be handled exclusively through the journal’s OJS platform

  • Authors are requested to use their scientific name or academic signature (e.g., María A. Torres or M. A. Torres) instead of their full legal name, in order to facilitate accurate indexing and citation.

Copyright and Privacy Statement

  • Our journal collects your ORCID iD so we can [insert purpose and clarify Member API vs. Public API use]. When you click the "Authorize" button in the ORCID pop-up window, you will be asked to share your ORCID iD through a trusted authentication process—either by registering for an ORCID iD or, if you already have one, by signing in to your account and granting us permission to collect your ORCID iD.

  • Download the Copyright Transfer Agreement

ORCID Verification

  • Once your article is published in Revista Transformar, you will receive a notification from the OJS system administrator requesting that you verify your ORCID iD.
  • This verification is essential to ensure your ORCID is properly displayed with your article, enhancing the visibility of your academic profile.
  • We recommend completing this step as soon as you receive the notification, since the verification link expires shortly after it is issued. Timely verification ensures the accurate indexing and authenticity of your author information in the publication.

Grounds for article rejection: Failure to comply with the Author Guidelines or lack of response to notifications sent through the journal’s OJS platform.

Issuance of Authorship Certificates

Revista Transformar issues authorship certificates only in the following cases: articles published under a paid publication model, and articles resulting from presentations delivered at congresses organized by REDIIE. This policy is based on editorial and administrative criteria established by the journal and by the Red Internacional de Investigadores en Educación (REDIIE), in order to ensure traceability, consistency, and institutional support for certified publications.
